At the recent "Research Symposium on the Safety of Electric Bicycle Lithium Batteries" held in Beijing, multiple experts from the industry analyzed the safety issues of electric bicycle lithium batteries, explored the challenges and solutions faced by the industry's development.
Currently, there are two main types of Electric Bicycle Batteries sold in the market: lead-acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries. Driven by factors such as the implementation of the new national standards and green travel, the demand for lithium-ion Electric Bicycles in the market is showing a rapid growth trend. Research institutions predict that by 2025, the penetration rate of lithium-ion electric bicycles will reach 56.40%, making it a necessary "partner" for the development of China's electric bicycle industry.The widespread application of Lithium Batteries has made their safety issues increasingly prominent. In 2022, there were 18000 safety accidents involving electric bicycles in China, mainly due to illegal modifications and consumers purchasing inferior batteries online, "Zhou Ying, Deputy Director of the National Light Electric Vehicle and Battery Product Quality Inspection Center, revealed at the meeting.
Regarding the safety issues of Electric Bicycles, Xie Li'an, a second level inspector from the Consumer Products Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, proposed three suggestions: firstly, accelerate technological innovation and promote industry leapfrog; Second, integrate the new generation of information technology to accelerate Digital transformation; The third is to improve the quality management and standard system, and improve the quality of products and services.
